telling [fashion] stories... in Edinburg
Capturing Moments, Crafting Narratives
Last week, a fantastic opportunity unfolded at Edinburgh College's Sighthill Campus, where I had the privilege of engaging with a vibrant audience of photography students. This event, meticulously orchestrated by the British Institute of Professional Photography and the Edinburgh College Photography Department, was a dynamic platform for me to share my passion for fashion storytelling.
As I addressed the enthusiastic minds enrolled in the first and second years of the Higher National Diploma in Professional Photography (NHD) and the seasoned third-year BA students, I embarked on a journey to transfer not just knowledge but the sheer enthusiasm that fuels my creative pursuits. The experience was nothing short of exhilarating, and I walked away with newfound insights inspired by the passion and talent of the next generation of visual media professionals.
During the talk, I had the pleasure of unveiling a glimpse into the third chapter of my series, "Those 7 Deadly Things", a personal project in seven sets to depict the human "comedy."
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Chris Harper and Bryn Griffiths from BIPP and Jon Lee, the Program Tutor for BA Professional Photography at Edinburgh College, for their warm welcome, unwavering assistance, and encouragement. Their support transformed this event into an unforgettable collaboration, fostering an environment where creativity thrived.
To the students,
I encourage you to embrace your passion wholeheartedly. In visual media, every frame is a canvas, and every snapshot is an opportunity to captivate and communicate. Your journey explores the uncharted territories of creativity, and each click of the shutter propels you further into the realm of artistic expression.
As you refine your craft, remember that every photograph is a story waiting to be told. Dive deep into the essence of your subjects, and let your images speak volumes. The world is your canvas, and your lens is the brush—paint stories that resonate, captivate, and endure.
